Wide Receiver Rankings

Last Updated: December 31, 2012

Welcome to the Rankings Pages.  We hope you like the new look of the website. In addition to our site re-design, we've opted to give our Player Rankings a fresh new look as well.  Moving away from conventional style rankings lists, we have transitioned to a Tiered ranking format.  This conversion has been made for a number of Dynasty specific reasons.  First, every Dynasty league has unique characteristics with player valuations that remain league specific.  Tiered Rankings add clarity to this inherent variability.  Second, players separated by Tiers provides an improved mechanism to appropriately define and compare player values from a Dynasty perspective.  Each Tier includes a description and brief player analysis.  It is important to note that players within each Tier typically share similar long-term outlook and are ranked in order within their respective tiers. Let's get into the WR's:

Beast Tier - These pass catchers are elite and have separated themselves from the rest of the WR1 pack. Calvin Johnson almost deserves a tier of his own. Julio Jones and AJ Green are two of the best prospects to enter the game in a while.

Calvin Johnson (Lions)
AJ Green (Bengals)
Julio Jones (Falcons)
Dez Bryant (Cowboys)
Franchise Tier - Knocking on the door of the Beast Tier, the Cornerstone WR's are consistency away from making a jump. Only Jennings and Marshall may have reached their max potential, although they still have multiple Beastly seasons remaining.

Demaryius Thomas (Broncos)
Percy Harvin (Vikings)
Brandon Marshall (Bears)
Larry Fitzgerald (Cardinals)
Hakeem Nicks (Giants)
Victor Cruz (Giants)
High Upside Tier - They may put up WR1 numbers, but they also might put up WR3 numbers, that is the risk and allure of the High Risk player. Eric Decker is more of a situational talent, but is a great fit for the new Broncos offense.
Randall Cobb (Packers)
Eric Decker (Broncos)
Justin Blackmon (R-Jaguars)
Jordy Nelson (Packers)
Dwayne Bowe (Chiefs)
Mike Wallace (Dolphins)
Jeremy Maclin (Eagles)
Torrey Smith (Baltimore)
Denarius Moore (Oakland)
Greg Jennings (Vikings)
Stevie Johnson (Bills)
Josh Gordon (R-Browns)

Seasoned Veteran Tier - These players may be nearing 30 years old or on the other side of it, but they remain productive, borderline WR1-2 types. If you are rebuilding and own one of these talents, you should strongly consider moving them for younger talent.

Roddy White (Falcons)
Wes Welker (Patriots)
Miles Austin (Cowboys)
Andre Johnson (Texans)
Vincent Jackson (Bucs)
Marques Colston (Saints)
Steve Smith (Panthers)

Upside With An Asterisk - The potential in this Tier is Beastly. Each has their own issues or limitations, but the ceiling is too high to ignore. In a Dynasty start-up, you may want to look at this Tier ahead of the Seasoned Veterans.
Michael Crabtree (49ers)
Antonio Brown (Steelers)
Kenny Britt (Titans)
Pierre Garcon (Redskins)
DeSean Jackson (Eagles)
Mike A. Williams (Bucs)
Breakout Potential Tier - All of these WR have Top 20 upside and that potential could be realized as soon as 2012 for some of these prospects. For others, it may take a few more years of development.

Alshon Jeffrey (R-Bears)
Rueben Randle (R-Giants)
Jonathan Baldwin (Chiefs)
Stephen Hill (R-Jets)
Kendall Wright (Titans)
Brian Quick (R-Rams)
TY Hilton (Colts)
Rod Streater (R-Raiders)
Brandon LaFell (Panthers)
Michael Floyd (R-Cardinals)
Golden Tate (Seahawks)
Vincent Brown (Chargers)
Mohamed Sanu (R-Bengals)
TJ Graham (Bills)
Chris Givens (Rams)
Titus Young (Lions)
Leonard Hankerson (Redskins)
Ryan Broyles (R-Lions)
Julian Edelman (Patriots)
Question Marks Tier - Plenty of potential, plenty of question marks. Don't rely on any players in this Tier to be a regular contributor to your lineup just yet, but they make great roster depth.
Greg Little (Browns)
James Jones (Packers)
Darrius Heyward-Bey (Colts)
Brandon Lloyd (Free Agent)
Sidney Rice (Seahawks)
Damian Williams (Titans)
Doug Baldwin (Seahawks)
A.J. Jenkins (R-49ers)
Santonio Holmes (Jets)
Lance Moore (Saints)
Austin Collie (Colts)
Mario Manningham (49ers)
Emmanuel Sanders (Steelers)
Malcom Floyd (Chargers)
Robert Meachem (Chargers)
Laurent Robinson (Jaguars)

Digging Deep Prospects - In Dynasty, you have to dig deep to uncover the gems. These guys may occupy the last few roster spots on your bench, but represent solid long term potential.

Andrew Hawkins (Bengals)
Armon Binns (Bengals)
Lestar Jean (Texans)
Jerrel Jernigan (Giants)
Joe Morgan (Saints)
Greg Salas (Patriots)
Marvin Jones (Bengals)
Tommy Streeter (Ravens)
Brandon Tate (Bengals)
Jacoby Ford (Raiders)
Nick Toon (Saints)
Earl Bennett (Bears)
