Tight Ends Rankings

Last Updated: December 31, 2012

Welcome to the Rankings Pages.  We hope you like the new look of the website. In addition to our site re-design, we've opted to give our Player Rankings a fresh new look as well.  Moving away from conventional style rankings lists, we have transitioned to a Tiered ranking format.  This conversion has been made for a number of Dynasty specific reasons.  First, every Dynasty league has unique characteristics with player valuations that remain league specific.  Tiered Rankings add clarity to this inherent variability.  Second, players separated by Tiers provides an improved mechanism to appropriately define and compare player values from a Dynasty perspective.  Each Tier includes a description and brief player analysis.  It is important to note that players within each Tier typically share similar long-term outlook and are ranked in order within their respective tiers. Let's get into the TE's:

Beast Tier - These TE's are changing the game, and are capable of WR1 numbers for years to come.

Jimmy Graham (Saints)
Rob Gronkowski (Patriots)
Franchise Tier - Cornerstone TE's are capable of Top 5 seasons, all are entering or will soon enter their primes. For Rudolph, he is living more off of potential at this point than the others, but the upside is very real.

Aaron Hernandez (Patriots)
Vernon Davis (49ers)
Kyle Rudolph (Vikings)
Productive Veteran Tier - They are on the wrong side of 30, but they are still churning out TE1 stats.

Antonio Gates (Chargers)
Jason Witten (Cowboys)
Breakthrough Potential Tier - While Pettigrew may have realized his potential last season, there is a chance he is able to offer even more. If he does, he finds himself in the Cornerstone or Productive Veteran Tier. The others are chock full of upside and capable of being TE1 options if development continues.
Jermichael Finley (Packers)
Jermaine Gresham (Bengals)
Coby Fleener (R-Colts)
Dennis Pitta (Ravens)
Jared Cook (Titans)
Greg Olsen (Panthers)
Fred Davis (Redskins)
Dwayne Allen (Colts)
Seasoned Veteran Tier - This tier is filled with a mixed bag of potentially startable TE's, injury concerns and limited long term upside players. Some are weighed down by their situation, but all are capable of providing a bye week or injury fill-in at the very least.
Owen Daniels (Texans)
Brandon Pettigrew (Lions)
Brent Celek (Eagles)
Martellus Bennett (Giants)
Dustin Keller (Jets)
Zach Miller (Seahawks)
Charles Clay (Dolphins)
Heath Miller (Steelers)
Marcedes Lewis (Jaguars)
James Casey TE/FB (Texans)
Scott Chandler (Bills)
Jacob Tamme (Broncos)
Prospect Tier - Keep these guys stashed away, because their impact is likely to be felt down the road. Look past the Seasoned Veteran Tier and focus on one of these players if you are building for the long term.

Ladarius Green (Chargers)
Lance Kendricks (Rams)
Jordan Cameron (Browns)
Rob Housler (Cardinals)
Ed Dickson (Ravens)
Tony Moeaki (Chiefs)
Julius Thomas (Broncos)
Taylor Thompson (Titans)
Adrien Robinson (Giants)
Luke Stocker (Bucs)

Niles Paul (Redskins)
